The Weekend 5

"What are we going to do this weekend?" We have an answer for you! Each week Visit Indy publishes five can't-miss events for the upcoming weekend. Save yourself the trouble of checking back by getting The Weekend 5 sent directly to your inbox each Thursday morning.

Event 1 - ONEAMERICA 500 FESTIVAL MINI-MARATHON"America's Best Half Marathon" attracts participants from all 50 states and more than 16 countries. Saturday's event kicks off a month of racing in Indy. The course starts and finishes downtown and includes a 2.5-mile lap around the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, nearly 100 entertainers along the route, 16 pit stations serving water and Gatorade Endurance, and a post-race party with beverages, free massages, merch, and more. Not ready for 13.1 miles? Do the Delta Dental 5K instead. Event 2 - GEORGE STRAIT, CHRIS STAPLETON, AND LITTLE BIG TOWNGeorge Strait is the King of Country, authentic, and a troubadour. Nominated for and won more CMA and ACM awards than any other artist, he's had more country hits than anyone. The legend will give it all he has Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium and he'll be joined by the man who is as smooth as Tennessee whiskey. His songs are anything but cold and Chris Stapleton was named ACM's Artist-Songwriter of the Decade for good reason. This traveller has earned the admiration of musicians from all genres including Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Taylor Swift, and Rage Against the Machine. Openers Little Big Town have the perfect soundtrack for day drinking on a pontoon, a visit to the little white church, and everything in between. Tickets are $50 and up.
